Use of abbr for the scientiifc equivalent of a vernacular name

Can anyone see any accessibility issues with this pattern:

<abbr title="Passer domesticus">House Sparrow</abbr>

I suspect the former, but would like confirmation; or otherwise, preferably.

Perhaps we need a <pseudonym> element? ;-)
