Yes. This works, but I would never consider an approach to be viable
if it requires the user to use this technique, let alone know this
keystroke. I guess it is a last resort option - and to be honest,
until Mozilla and/or JAWS fixes the virtual buffer issues in Firefox,
this might be the only method for this type of content to be
accessible.

I entirely agree. I find the buffer refresh (ins+esc) to be entirely
counterproductive -a hack that I must employ to get access to the most basic
functionality on sites like Facebook and other. I'm afraid that this
problem is not isolated to JAWS 10. JAWS 11 behaves pretty much the same.
Mozilla is as much to blame for this as Freedomscientific.
