Thanks for looking at the page, Tim. My tester and I figured out that she was
actually going to the live version of the page, not the upcoming one which
was what I wanted her to critique. I'm glad to know it worked in at least two
versions of JAWS.

The page is live now and I've added long descriptions so that visitors will be
able to get some idea of what the thumbnail Unicef cards I've put up look
like.

Actually, now that thanks to everybody's help we've established that JAWS
does, indeed, find my content, I'd be interesting in knowing just how clear
that content is. I went for what I thought was a very minimalist approach
with the alt text, and I'm wondering if what a a screen reader user hears
actually makes any sense.
