Subject: an accessible data base

Hello:
I have been called in to consult on a case where they need an accessible
simple data base. I would like to know if anyone knows of any way to use
file maker accessibly or some other product that is both cross plat
form and accessible. The problem we are having with file maker is that the
data in the fields cannot be reviewed and the user needs to read phone
numbers and e-mail addresses from the records as well as type up longer
notes about the interactions. The user can here the data once when they
first tab to the field but if they try and move around in the field jaws
reads blank. I would recommend access but the rest of the work group uses
macs thanks Lucy

Hello:
I am recommending that they get the one mac user that is not blind back
on a pc but I have very little hope it’s a mac centric office

Hi Lucy,

I found this support file on the FileMaker web site: http://help.filemaker.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/10897/~/filemaker-pro.jgf-or-filemaker-pro-advanced.jgf-file-for-windows-release-notes.

It seems to be a support extension for JAWS. I hope this helps.

Thanks for tracking down that one, Jonathan. I've been wondering
about Filemaker support for a while as well.

Note that the link to the Jaws Graphics file download has the alt
text "image". Aargh!...

Hello:
unfortunately we have this file installed and it only works for graphical
images. The user is still unable to use text within the edit fields of
the database I keep coming across FileMaker over the years and I'm very
disappointed that after 25 years they still use the same excuse and have
not work at all to make it more accessible interface. For crying out loud
its text put it on the screen as text and leave it alone. The users have
decided to go to an all Windows platform and use their original access
