Subject: Visual description for video

Hi all,
I've been researching vendors and finding plenty who will create captions
and turn those captions into transcripts. So far I found only 1 that will
create audio description and/or descriptive transcripts to fulfill the need
for describing the visual content of a video. For short videos, we add
description ourselves, but for long videos, we just don't have the
man-hours.
- What vendors have you found for writing descriptions?
- What other processes do you use to accomplish this need?
- *For those working in higher ed *- do you currently require captions,
simple transcripts, descriptive transcripts, audio description? We require
captions and descriptive transcripts so far here, but it is very difficult
to enforce without resources to provide people. I'd love to add audio
description, as well, someday, but we need to nail down a sustainable
process for descriptive transcripts first.
Thanks!

I work with 3Play fMedia or video captions/transcripts and audio description.
I like the experience (I have no personal affiliation with 3Play, just
a satisfied customer).
I find the pricing to be pretty reasonable (and cheaper than doing
same in house).
That is the obvious answer and there may be providers out there that
better fit your needs and/or pricing.
