Does your child have a cognitive or learning disability? Do they use the Internet?
Can you help us as we try to improve the web for people with cognitive and learning disabilities?
Please consider joining our university research.
In a nutshell...
Researchers at Utah State University want to identify web design elements that pose problems for those with cognitive or learning disabilities. Once identified, the results will be shared with Web developers AND a tool will be created to help web developers consider the needs of those with cognitive and learning disabilities in their designs.
But first...
We need to find 20 pairs of parents and their children who will participate in our research. We are looking for students who are in middle and high school, on active Individual Education Plans (IEP's) in their school, and have a cognitive or learning disability. They also need to use the Internet at least 1 hour a week (at home or school). Students must be located in Northern Utah (Ogden northward). Your child will be asked to interact with pairs of websites and give us their opinions about those sites, and the web in general. We also want to ask you to identify those things that make surfing the internet easy, or hard, for your child.
Participation will take one hour and we'll set a time and place that is convenient for you.
We will pay $25 for your time.
It is voluntary and you can withdraw at any time.
