I can't agree more. Static data, tables, etc need to be accessible
regardless of whether one needs to edt it or not.

I think this is a necessary requirement for all software applications
that present tabular (or "grid") information, interactive or not. It is
also an issue for static document content (e.g. a table within a text
document). I believe the current desktop accessibility APIs already
cover this - certainly Java & UNIX & WAI ARIA do so.
