Hi all,
We will be posting different topics in different emails to make it
easier to find them in the future and to keep different threads
separate. Sorry for extra emails here at the start.
This email is about getting started while we wait for permission to
meet.
Use of the mail list
We would like to suggest that the group make good use of the mail list
for discussion.
In fact we would like to suggest that everything flow through the list
in one form or another.
- anything discussed in teleconf calls is summarized (or a pointer to a
summary) is posted to the list
- anything posted to the working group workpage
(http://teitac.org/wiki/General_Interface_Accessibility) would be run
through the list - or a link to it posted to the list
Discussions on the list are the most accessible, most time-friendly
(people can access during work or home hours everywhere on the globe),
and vacation or whatever friendly. So instead of just waiting for the
call - lets get started on the mail list.
Sign up for list if not already
This is the LAST email that we will do with a long list of email names.
All others will be made just to the list to be sure we include new
people as they join.

Ideas for Participation
We will collect ideas for discussion from the discussion at the TEITAC
meeting and from our list.
We will be compiling these and keeping a running list of them on our
work page http://teitac.org/wiki/General_Interface_Accessibility)
Updating Pages
As per above, whenever pages are updated we will post to the main list.
Others can update pages too - but please note it to the list.
ALSO- please add to pages but don't delete from the pages. If you see
something that needs deleting for some reason - please contact the
chairs. We want
to collect information not censor it so we want to be judicious in any
trimming that is done.
Lets start with people posting ideas or topics to the list. Please post
one idea per email and put a clear subject on the email to facilitate
tracking of discussions.
Topics
In general - we are charged with
1) Reviewing the provisions
2) Looking for gaps
3) Looking for problems
4) Considering the Themes throughout
Our group was to look at things like
1) Looking at issues that occur across multiple technologies
2) Reviewing the functional performance criteria
3) Other cross cutting issues (but not delving into technology specific
issues - which are covered by indiv subcommittees)
The group is not charged with deciding anything. Just identifying,
highlighting, exploring options to issues identified, and then providing
information on all of these to the TEITAC to inform the TEITAC - who
will then decide what to do.
Two topics sent to our group by individuals on our group were
- issues related to multiple chemical sensitivity
- functional component view of the standards
In order to keep all this straight, we will post a page that organizes
all the topics mentioned or under discussion. We can then use that as a
touchpoint as we move forward.
Everyone
Please think about our charge and post your thoughts to the list. In
particular
1) what are the topic areas
2) what are the key questions/issues
3) what we should be collecting in the way of information that will help
the committee
4) what analyses we should be conducting (or do we know of that would
help)
