Unfortunately, I am not available next Friday for a call.
I'm a bit new to all this but exactly why should the accessibility
requirements for IT equipment be exactly the same as for "... sites,
facilities, buildings, and elements..."
Why was the difference between front-only accessible reach (48 inches) and
parallel accessible reach (54 inches) removed going from the 2002 version
to the 2005 draft? I seems clear to me that if a wheelchair can approach
a piece of IT equipment parallel, the reach of the individual onto the
equipment is greater.

Don:
We discussed this briefly in today’s call, but tabled it to next week’s
meeting in hopes that you can join us and share more details about the
research you mentioned, as well as elaborate on your concerns. Apparently,
this change is coming out of the ADA-AAG. If you can’t join us next week,
then please continue to elaborate via posts to this list.

Subject: [teitac-hardware] Potential Change to 1194.25 j(1-4)
Recently, I learned of a proposed change to 1194.25k(1-4) in regards to
the maximum reach height of IT hardware.
After substantial research, Lexmark is opposed to this change. Many
larger hardcopy devices, such as multifunction devices and copiers,
especially those configured with large capacity input and output trays,
collators, mail boxes, etc. require a larger maximum reach height than 48
inches. A 54 inch reach height covers this equipment while 48 inch does
not.
I suspect other manufacturers of similar equipment share our concerns.
