In addition to a matrix of questions to use in standard review (sent in a
previous message), a document has been developed that combines the Section
508 Telecommunications standards (1194.23) and the Section 255 standards
(1193.23-1193.51) along with general Section 508 standards that correspond
to Section 255 standards (1194.31 and 1194.41) and groups them in the
following areas:
Basic Communications (that include text-based) - 1194.23 and 1193.51)
Audio Output (1194.23, 1193.43 and 1193.51)
Input Controls/Keys (1194.23 and 1193.51)
Comprehensive Signal Transmission (1194.23 and 1193.37)
Functional Interaction (1194.23, 1194.31, 1193.41, 1193.43, and 1193.51)
Information and Documentation (1194.41 and 1193.33)
Product Development/Design (1193.23 and 1193.39)
In the document, some of the standards have questions/issues immediately
following the standard (should be bulleted and text should be in italics
unless something is lost in translation as it gets posted to the wiki). The
set of initial questions/issues are based on the slides David Baquis used in
his presentation and the slides provided by Paul Michaelis. (I may have
missed or misinterpreted some items, but thought this would at least be a
starting point.)
This document should be posted to the wiki on the Telecommunication
Subcommittee page (she says hopefully). Please take a look at the document
and see if the groupings make sense and if this structure will provide the
subcommittee with a framework for tackling a comprehensive review. Again,
comments and suggestions about the proposed structure should be made via
this listserv.
Thanks,
Diane
