While it doesn't matter much to me where things finally land in the
structure -- I am a bit concerned about making a decision to move the volume
control standards and reset requirement (especially related to audio output
that comes from another source - phone call) until the telecom committee has
some resolution on content. As best I can tell we really don't have
consensus on what to do about the 20dB gain level, how it should be measured
given varying incoming signals, how to align with the FCC 12 dB gain
requirement, if the gain is expected to built-in, if there is an exception
for line-powered phones, if there is an exception to the default reset, etc.

Subject: [teitac-telecom] Telecom Provisions to Move / Transfer

The EWG group has asked that the working groups currently assigned to any
provision send the EWG any changes in LOCATION or Working group.

I would like to suggest the following changes be sent to EWG

IN HARDWARE SECTION

2.2 A. Mechanical Controls. a Tell EWG that these were sent to
Hardware.

2.3 A Magnetic Coupling to Hearing Aids a Transfer to HARDWARE Group
(Currently in Hardware section under AUDIO)

Should be any product held to the ear including headsets on kiosks and
museum 'ear cups'.

2.3 B Hearing Aid Interference a Transfer to HARDWARE Group
(Currently in Hardware section under AUDIO)

Should be any product held to the ear including headsets on kiosks and
museum 'ear cups' though probably only a problem for transmitting devices.

Keeps this one and 2.3 A together which they probably should be.

2.3 D Volume a Transfer to HARDWARE Group (Currently in Hardware
section under AUDIO)

This applies to much more than telecom. Need two provisions.
One for Device generated Audio. One for Audio from another source (e.g.
call)

2.3 D Volume Rest a Transfer to HARDWARE Group (Currently in
Hardware section under AUDIO)

(same as what is done with Volume. Need to stay together).

3.1 B Timing (IVR) a Delete All covered by the general Timing
Provision. Nothing different here except that it is missing options that
are listed in general provision that give industry more options for
different cases.

3.1 C Pass Through a Keep? Send to General?

This applies to more than telecom - and telecom is handling its
part specifically.

SECTION 5 -

REORDER Text ITEMS in Section 5 (but keep all)

Reorder items 5. BCDE TO EDCB (and rename two)

This makes more sense when you read them or apply them.

Accessibility Configuration

R-Text Reliability (was "R-Text within Voice Systems")

R-Text Interoperability

VoIP Terminal support for R-Text (was VoIP terminals with R-Text)

VoIP Terminals without R-Text

IVR etc.

Caller and Status Info

Video Support

We should decide what we want to do with these items and send to EWG right
away. We can change them later but they need to know where things go and
who is working on them - especially if they need to be generalized /
collapsed with others to avoid redundancy.
