Folks,
You may recall from the June 6 meeting we discussed and agreed that Paul
Schomburg/Panasonic, would draft and propose the following edits:
Modification: (a) All wide-screen (16:9) digital television (DTV)
displays measuring at least 7.8 inches vertically, DTV sets with
conventional (4:3) displays measuring at least 13 inches diagonally, and
stand-alone DTV tuners, whether or not they are marketed with display
screens, and computer equipment that includes DTV receiver or display
circuitry, shall be equipped with CEA-608 caption decoder circuitry (for
analog video content), in accordance with 47CFR15.119, and CEA
708-standard caption decoder circuitry (for digital video content), in
accordance with 47CFR15.122, which appropriately receives, decodes, and
displays closed captions from broadcast, cable, satellite, videotape,
DVD and other prerecorded media. When selected by the user, digital
video source devices [or software decoders] must either pass CEA 608
and/or 708 closed caption data, when available, to the caption decoding
circuitry of a television or must decode closed caption data, when
available, and pass an open-captioned signal to the display.
Unfortunately Paul Schomburg is ill and can not attend today's meeting,
therefore, if possible I would like to discuss above edits during
today's call assume time permits.
If time does not allow then please comment via the wiki.
Thanks.
Tony Jasionowski
