I would suggest you add that comment to the RESEARCH page

Gregg,
The FCC rules define the font size and typography for 708. We think TEITAC
should keep its recommendations consistent with the FCC.

For those who don't frequent WIKIs here is a summary of the items on the
page. (I think I got most all of them). If you see something missing from
the list - go to the page and see if it is there or needs to be added.
* CAPTIONS
* a minimum font size
* transcription display rate
* caption font typography
* TELEPHONE INTELIGIBILITY
* what is sufficient for hearing access over the telephone
* When is 20 dB, 25dB, up to 40dB beneficial? (what is research?)
* How does clarity interrelate with amplification? Is a separate
standard for clarity needed?
* Are there other questions regarding maximizing residual hearing ?
* ( see discussion under "Some quick thoughts on asking for research
to help develop technical standards for enhanced understandability of speech
via telephone" below )
* RE Intelligibility measurments
1. are there any other worldwide accessibility regulations use one or
more of these measures of intelligibility
2. do any US regs for any purpose use one or more of these measures of
intelligibility
3. do procurement ever includes any such requirements
4. which, if any, of the metrics are commonly used by vendors
* For example, how many people with what kind and degree of hearing
loss can detect a difference between a 3.5 and a 4.5 MOS.
* COGNITIVE
* research on cognitive technology standards
* BIOMETRICS
* are there biometrics that are inherently inclusive?
* are there any two or more already commercially available biometrics
that, if either option could be used, would be totally inclusive.
* AUDIO MENUS
* proposing that audio menus be limited to 4 or 6 maximum items. These
numbers should be backed up somehow with reputable research
* LOW VISION
* how metric of 20/70 can be translated into a technical specification
for the performance of a product, such as character size.
* HEARING LOSS
* improved connection between the actual experience and needs of
people who are hard of hearing, and the design specifications for products.
This research should focus on both amplification and other factors.
* PHOTOSENSITIVE SEIZURE DISORDERS
* A comprehensive report of existing research (e.g. a survey article
or equivalent) may be able to provide all the guidance needed;
* COMPATIBILITY OF PROSTHETICS AND TOUCH INTERFACES
* how changes in touch technologies may affect the accessibility of
touchscreens by people with prostheses.

Hi Folks -
During today's meeting between the Editorial Working Group and the
Subcommittee co-chairs, Gregg Vanderheiden requested the location of the
Research pages on the TEITAC wiki. The pages were compiled by Jim Tobias and
are located at the following address: http://teitac.org/wiki/Research
