rely on means that they have a particular style to note that they are
instructions as I understand it.

David, I do not see any reference to stylings for instructions in that text.
So I do not understand you. I believe the reference is to an instruction
that for instance reads: "Click the yellow button on the right to continue".
I think the phrase "instructions that rely on" must be clearer. If it means
"instructions that reference shape, location, etc. of components...", then
it should be re-worded.

Does this mean : Instructions themselves do not rely on shape, location,
etc. of components
Or, does it mean:
The insttructions do not reference the shape, location, etc. of components?
