3-U AT Interoperability
We support this provision as written with the caveat that somewhere it is
made clear that it means that all this information is provided in a way that
it can be accessed and used by AT that is available to users. If the
information is 'exposed' so that AT can access it - but there is no AT that
does - then employees with disabilities will not be able to use the product
if it is purchased.
We acknowledge the problems with bugs in the AT - and consideration need to
be made for these. But for a product to claim that it should be
purchase-able because it will meet 508 intent (that people with disabilities
can use it) through AT compatibility - then there needs to be AT that will
in fact work with it.
This is a general issue for all provisions that talk about AT
interoperability or "programmatically Determinable".
