already asked. this is one of the reasons i take the position i do -- if we
make it clear that the access board cares, it supports our internal
champions.
again, the problem is not the technology. the problem is organizing the
social context of the technology. sorry if you get sick of hearing it, but
i get sicker having to say it over and over again.

TV Raman is now at GOOGLE.
Why not ask him to look at the calendar and see if he can get it accessible.
Worth a try.

I guess I mean that installing an existing, robust plugin is one thing;
writing code to supplement functionality is another. I'm leery of a
tech-centric approach.
I'm strongly in favor of using established, well supported, even highly
commercial ICT products. It's not that I don't like open source and
seat-of-your-pants projects. But anything that interferes with reliability
and usability, or anything that intimidates users, should be off the table.
The second reason, my open agenda, is that by using commercial tools -- and
by informing those companies -- we raise the level of motivation for
accessibility improvements. (Of course, as noble as this is , we shouldn't
sacrifice productivity for advocacy.) Don't you think that using Google
Calendar will get Google to participate in TEITAC?
Here's my point of practicality: Let's say that Google Calendar lacks an
accessibility feature. I think the best approach would be:
1. Use Google Calendar for event input and publishing to those who prefer
it.
2. Make sure that all its content is accessibly displayed via the wiki.
(which might require -- eek -- software development)
3. Tell Google what we're doing, officially, from the Access Board.

Um, the Access Board is rather keen to have NCDAE tweak the online tools as
necessary! Jared is already providing web application development. We are
mindful that the administrative burden be minimized. And Jared will let us
know if we start to ask for too much.

Again I support Jim's recommendation, Jared.

Hi Jared,
I think our first rule should be "no software development"! It may be
unfair to you and WebAIM, and it may not work well for users. I think we
should stick with the Google calendar for event input, and make sure that
its content is well published on teitac.org.
