Version 4 builds on Version 3 but fixes some things

I guess it's title is

Version 4 (Version 3 with Gregg with Paul Edits)

Some highlights of this version

(see email trial below for detailed rationale)

- Builds on #3's simplicity

- Version 3 had no volume requirement if not public

- clear line between 1 and 2 (based on what product was designed
for - not where it may end up)

- Uses phrasing common to other provisions

- Clarifies that user must be able to adjust

2.2-D Volume

All products with speech output must meet the following provisions regarding
volume as measured using a 2K Hz reference signal:

1) Products designed to be located in public places must be capable of a
volume level of at least 80 dB SPL RMS measured at a typical listener
position.

2) Products not designed to be located in public places must be capable of a
volume level of at least 65 dB SPL RMS measured at a typical listener
position.

3) All products must have less than 12 dB symmetrical clipping at all
volume levels including maximum volume level.

4) Volume output on audio jacks must be adjustable by user.

My only suggestion is to add "by the user" to requirement #4. Thanks,

The suggestion below our result in the following (if it wasn't clear)

Looking better.

Hmmmm

Two things

1)

This looks like there is no requirement if it is not a public device.

** I think you need a volume for non-public to get it through.

(maybe 2) Products not designed to be located in public places must be
capable of a volume level of at least 65 dB SPL RMS measured at a typical
listener position.

2)

Also - someone complained that all products are intended to be used by the
public. So we have been using "intended (designed?) to be located in
public places"

** Does that work better for you?

Have to talk to Karen and Brenda about these but these are my quick
thoughts.
