TAGs from "Functional Components View"
The Functional Components View characterizes the provisions rather than
sorting them. This allows any provision to have many different
characteristics rather than just one (if it was sorted). This is a very
powerful technique. It also is unbounded. So we need to choose
characteristics or tags well.
The ones in the FCV presently are:
Potential Grouping
* Audio amplification
* Color and contrast settings
* Connectors
* Flashing
* Info in color
* Mechanical controls
* Text info about non-text objects
* Timeouts
Functional Components or Product Features
* Has a keyboard, keypad, other physical controls
* Has a visual display
* Any visual display
* Visually displayed information includes non-text objects
* Visually displayed information uses color
* Visual display is capable of flashing or blinking
* Interface has a time-based element
* Has audio output
* Many more ...
Others suggested by Kate
Grouping
* Alternative Formats
* Images
* Audio, Video, and Animation
* Biometrics
* Information About Elements
* Product accessibility Features
* System Status
(suggested edits to existing terms)
* Timed Responses
* Use of Color

Subject: Re: TAGs from "Functional Components View"
Hi All,
Greg, Thanks for posting these. I believe that we are getting at
the heart of the matter here. One set befuddles me though and seems
to be duplicative and at the least, need to be worded differently so
as to blend with the others.
here they are:
Grouping
Alternative Formats
Images
Audio, Video, and Animation
Biometrics
Information About Elements
Product accessibility Features
System Status
altermative formats and accessibility features might be better
blended. Wee already have for instance, visual, color, audio etc for
alternatives so how does this work? alternative is also connotative
of a lesser class and I might want to have all alternatives available
at the same time to be rendered simultaniously or switched among so
alternative might not be an applicable term.
Accessibility features; Now, we could say that all of these are
accessibilityy features. I'd say that accessibility should be
explained somewhere and carried through by highlighting it in a
functional way.
I hope this helps.
Thanks!
