Subject: TEITAC meeting dates; location; agenda

Hello Everyone!

The "official" Federal Register notice announcing the location, times
and draft agenda for the February 2007 TEITAC will appear tomorrow,
Friday, January 12, 2007.

For your information, attached is a "draft" version of the Federal
Register Notice. Included below is some information that you may find
useful.

Date: February 6, 2007 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

February 7, 2007 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

February 8, 2007 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Location: Transportation Security Administration

601 South 12th Street (town hall meeting room), Arlington, VA 22202.

Pentagon City Metro Stop

Local Hotels:
http://www.hotels-rates.com/hotels/locations/Arlington/VA/usa/4262

The two closest hotels on this list are: The Ritz-Carlton Pentagon City

Residence Inn By Marriott Pentagon City

Possible hotel discount: http://www.fedrooms.com/Integer/Welcome.jsp
This is a website for federal employees. You MAY be able to get a
discount on hotel rooms by registering here, since you are participating
in a federal committee. No guarantees, but worth taking a look.

Pre-registration required: Yes. Register with Tim Creagan by January
23, 2007 and tell him you're coming. I have to give a list of attendees
to TSA Security.

Wireless telephony: This is a ground floor meeting space. I got a good
wireless connection on my cell phone.

Internet connection: This was a requested item for the meeting space,
however, many factors had to be considered, resulting in a compromise.
[The factors included cost, space requirements (breakout space);
security requirements of the sponsoring agency, and availability of
space with accessible routes, among other considerations.] I was
successful in obtaining an internet connection when I used a mobile
broadband card in my laptop. That signal came in clearly.

TSA will NOT allow us to connect to any of their systems, nor will they
permit us to use a wireless router. There are several Wi-Fi hot spots
in the area. I was unable to connect to any unsecured sites from the
meeting room, but that does not necessarily mean that you will have the
same problem.

Agenda: the draft is contained in the notice. A final "draft" {with
specific times} will be posted on the Access Board website as we get
closer to the meeting dates.

Administrative item: PLEASE list your teleconferences on the TEITAC
calendar! [http://teitac.org/calendar ]

A deal of confusion has arisen recently when people checked the master
TEITAC calendar, and either found no listing for a teleconference, or
found conflicting information on the calendar when compared to the
subcommittee home page! Please list your teleconferences in the
calendar.

Thank you, and we look forward to seeing you in February!

Tim:

I can empathize that it must be difficult finding a federal location that
can host our group with all the requirements. But I want to stress that the
requested internet access was not so we could simply get email at different
points of the day. It is also used to communicate with others in our
organizations during the course of the TEITAC meetings on issues being
discussed, via email and instant messaging. That¹s important to us.

Not knowing budgets, I¹m wondering if you considered looking into hotel
meeting space. There are dozens of hotels with break-out rooms, internet
access, etc. that are set up just for this sort of thing. And, there would
be the added benefit that those from out of town could stay at the same
hotel. Depending on the number of room-nights booked, the meeting space can
often be reserved at a discount especially considering the fact that we
will do this multiple times over the next several months. Just a thought
for next time (and maybe this time too, if there is availability).

Tim,

Many of us who represent private industry are not authorized to make
significant comments or contributions without consulting other people in
our companies. I'm worried that the lack of reasonable Internet
connectivity during the meeting is going to make the discussions
somewhat one-sided and unproductive. Can you at least arrange to have
phone lines run into the room, so that we'll have connectivity via
dial-up modem? Thanks,

Hi Michael,

I think you mean the official places that Apple is listed as a participant -
right? (not all the places in the archives, maillists etc.)

PS For those who don't understand - Apple Computer changed its name this
month to Apple Inc.

Yes!!! It would be terribly helpful to have the dates finalized as soon as
possible along with start/end times so allow for "prudent" travel
arrangement.

Tim,

I was looking for the draft agenda for the February TEITAC meeting on the
Access Board website but I don't see it yet. Specifically, I am interested
in the schedule for the subcommittee breakout sessions on February 7th.
Since most subcommittees have members who are not TEITAC members and are
not in the DC area, will there be a phone and conference bridge provided so
that they can dial in?

I would be interested in having information about the breakout sessions as
well, because there are some people from the disability community who may be
interested in attending these, and need advance notice of the meeting times.
