Analysis and Sorting Tool for 508, 255, and EITAAC provisions
Gregg V's Analysis and Sorting Tool for 508, 255, and EITAAC provisions
About the tool
This is a spreadsheet tool i am using to help me analyze and understand the different guidelines and how they relate to each other.
I am also using it to explore the Idea of Tagging products that Jim Tobias brought up at one of our early TEITAC meetings and again in this General Group.
The Spreadsheet currently contains
- EITAAC guidelines from last Advisory Committee
- 255 Telecom Guidelines
- 508 E&IT Guidelines
I will later be adding HFES-200.2 Guidelines which are identical to ISO 9241-171 (which we do not have access to) if i can get permission to post that version.
I may also include the User Needs Summary from JTCT1 SWG that was based on the Trace Design Tool User Needs if I can figure out a way to do that
Features of the tool
The tool allows all of the following just by using the built in sort capabilities of Excel
- Analysis can include a combination of the guidelines
- you can look at just a single standard or all of them together
- SHORT NAMES have been added to make it easier to find things
- you can find all of the guidelines that apply to a particular product characteristic
- there are sort buttons in the header for each product characteristic
- best way is to use the TOP choices in each drop down menu to SORT the category rather than FILTER it
- sometimes the top choices do not show up unless you scroll up. a bug in excel.
- If you filter then it will hide all the provisions but the ones related to that characteristic
- if you filter - you must use the SHOW ALL command to get the other provisions back
- SHOW ALL command can be found on the DATA menu under FILTER.
- I also have SORT WORDS and SUB-SORT WORDS that i used to get similar guidelines together so i could look at them
- These might be useful for categorizing the provisions.. or not.
- You can get a list of these by looking at the pull down menu on the title
- I usually leave the sheet sorted by these categories to keep the similar items together
- SORT BY GUIDELINE buy sorting by the REFERENCE field
- The Characteristic X's are NOT DONE YET. so dont count on those yet. will have done on sunday
- (i have been trapped in plane hell coming back from Spain for the last two days so I am late with these)

Latest Changes
I've been trying to sort out provisions into something that was not technology based but strategy based.
I preserved the old view Sheet #1
But added a new view (Sheet #5)
The new view has:
- The tagging feature we had before (now fully marked in)
- The disability tagging we had before (also marked in)
- A collapsing of all the ones that were the same or nearly identical
- (you can expand with the plus marks on the left)
- The whole thing is sorted by strategy.
- We could do other things but I tried this one
The provisions are all now sorted as follows.
