A problem arises whenever we provide 'for example' type of comments. The definition and example for Operable controls does not mention touch screen technology. From the reading of the first sentence it is covered but after reading the second sentence I could say that touch screens are not covered by 508. I would recommend that examples not be included in the final provisions but that they be included as an advisory note from the Access Board to the agencies. The reading of this provision will state show that everything that uses physical contact is covered. If there are still questions thea agency would be directed to another page with strong wording that the information on the new page is only examples and not to be interpreted as being all encompassing.
