Documentation > June 7

Minutes

  • Discussions will be moved to wiki pages instead of using the email listserve.
  • Next draft submission is June 30. It should be our final submission.
  • Reviewed input from last plenary meeting.
  • Will use term "end user" in our provisions. Had used both "end user" and "users"
  • To resolve the issue of why does the phrase "This information shall be provided in alternate formats or alternate methods upon request." that had appeared in our updated version of 7.1.a and 7.1.b the solution is to combine the two provisons into one, then create a new one to deal with alternate formats.

7.1.a currently reads: To provide documentation to users on the installation, configuration and use of the product, Federal agencies shall require that all documentation supporting the product, including but not limited to reports, system documentation and user training or technical support materials conform the relevant accessibility provisions in 1194 Subparts B and C.

7.1.b currently reads: Product documentation shall provide users with a description of the accessibility and compatibility features of the product, including how to install and activate them. This information shall be provided in alternate formats or alternate methods upon request.

New proposal is for:

7.1.a to read: To provide documentation to users on the installation, configuration, use of the product including the description, installation and use of the accessibility and compatibility features, Federal agencies shall require that all documentation supporting the product, including but not limited to reports, system documentation and user training or technical support materials conform the relevant accessibility provisions in 1194 Subparts B and C.

7.1.b to read: This information shall be provided in alternate formats or alternate methods upon request.

More disucssion is needed on this to determine if the issue of alternate format or alternate methods is needed.

  • 7.1.c was discussed, determined no changes are required but were unable to toally agree on if both methods should be listed. Will keep the text as is, but make a note that there was not total agreement on the provison.
