Documentation > March 15

Minutes

  • Reminder of the current schedule:
    • First draft due March 12 - done, submission completed
    • Second draft due April 16
    • Third (final?) draft due June 18
  • Reviewed draft #1 submitted to TEITAC co-chairs. A snapshot of this draft has been captured on the Draft 1 page.
  • Discussed comments that were made on the draft #1 submission. Agreed to send these out via email for discussion.
    • Creating a standard requiring remote assistance.
    • Creating a standard requiring context sensitive help.
  • Reviewed the text for who is responsible for funding alternate format. Agreed that the text would replace the current 1194.41a, b, and c entries. Agreed this is final text and that it should be sent to the email alias for final feedback. Comments are due by Friday, March 23, 20007.
  • Question raised about alt-text. Current recommendation is to use "meaningful text" which is sometimes not clear. There is also concern when the visual users see something totally different. Example raised is when the sighted person is told to click on the cash register button, but the alt-text is "button takes you to the sales center". For the sighted support person telling the blind user to tab to the cash register, the situation will not work. Agreed to send this to the email alias for discussion.
  • Discussion about having the standard list what file format should be used. Notes from that discussion are found on the file format topics page. Summary is agreed to not include this in a standard. Will send out via email to be sure all are in agreement.
  • Started discussion about accessibility and compatibility features for a product being in the documentation. Reviewed the comment on the comments page and determined we needed more info from the submitter. Email will be sent to start discussion and clarify the input.
