ISO 9241-20

An old but the latest draft of ISO 9241-20

Ergonomics of human-system interaction – Part 20; Accessibility guidelines for information/communication technology (ICT) equipment and services

The ISO/TC159/SC4/WG6 is now developing ISO 9241-20. The ISO standard will be the umbrella accessibility standard applicable to all ICT products and services.

What you can see here is its latest draft that was prepared in early 2006. This draft experienced a voting process called DIS (Draft International Standard) Voting and approved in September 2006 by 16 votes in favor vs. 2 opposing.

But at the same time, the draft received more than 200 comments. The drafting group (ISO/TC159/SC4/WG6) met in Berlin in October 2006 and examined comments and agreed to accept most of the comments.

Now the Project Editor (Hajime Yamada of JAPAN) and Co-editor (Jim Carter of CANADA) are developing a new draft based on the Berlin agreement. The new draft will go into the FDIS (Final Draft International Standard) Voting in April or May of 2007.

This is the reason that the draft shown here is “old”. But the most of comments are editorial comments that do not change the substance of recommendations in the draft. Therefore, TEITAC can use it as a reference.
