ISSUE: New provisions needed but not yet defined by any group

Description

We are charged with locating provisions that dropped through the cracks (not handled by other groups) and for identifying missing topics/ provisions. We need to do that

NOTES

possible provisions needed

  1. Auto completion {COVERED BY AUTO-UPDATING OR OTHER PROVISIONS? DO WE NEED ANOTHER?}
    • a problem for people with cognitive processing and distraction - if it cannot be turned off
    • it can be of benefit to those with physical disabilities.
    • "Any auto-completion or other prompting features should be able to be turned off"
    • would be good to have reference to best practices in this area for different disabilities.
  2. Distraction from moving or blinking content {COVERED BY WEB/SOFT PROVISIONS}
    • Combine with above to say
      • "Blinking, moving or auto-completion or dynamic prompting can be turned off for those with cognitive or distraction disabilities and for some screen reader users."
        • A method shall be provided to stop any blinking or movement that lasts more than 3 seconds. This is a first pass and needs work. Also check to be sure it isnt too broad. 1194.21(h) covers this for animation in software. Is this the only technology (thus should this go to software/web??)
      • Problem is more severe on screens than it is for fixed LEDs since a fixed LED can be covered if distracting but this is harder to do with content on screen
  3. Someplace need to cover "accessible but not usable". {COVERED BY COMPARABLE ACCESS DISCUSSION?}
    • Products can meet the provisions and be completely unusable.
      • if it takes 10 or 20 times the keystrokes - is it equivalent.
    • This one is being handled by the "comparable access" discussion in PartA group. So no further action here.
  4. Privacy -- "must provide same level of privacy and security" (password not read back on entry, headphone jack other?) {COVERED BY AUDIO JACK PROVISION}
  5. AT vendor responsibility {CLOSED IN PLENARY DISCUSSIONS}
  6. End user training or guidance added to provisions. {BELONGS IN DOCUMENTATION AND SUPPORT?}
