Subject: Highlighting the screen with jaws while testing

Hello everyone,

I use NVDA as my primary screen reader but I would like to be more
professional in knowing jaws to perform testing better.

Question:

How do you turn on the current element highlighting with jaws? It can be
useful when recording zoom screen sharing sessions while demonstrating the
accessibility issue.

In NVDA there is a checkbox:

Enable Highlighting

Do I need to do something extra to turn on this highlighting in Jaws?

Thank you!

It should be on by default but I suppose it might depend on which version
of JAWS you have.

You can go to JAWS settings via Ins+J then select Utilities then Settings
Center. Navigate the tree to "Visual Tracking". It's the third last item
so I usually hit the END key then arrow up two times. The "Highlight
Virtual PC Cursor" is probably unchecked. Mine is unchecked but I actually
get the highlighting when browsing in Chrome using the up/down arrow keys
in Virtual PC Cursor mode. The help tip for this settings says:

"When navigating web pages, PDF documents, or email messages with the
Virtual PC Cursor, select this check box to have JAWS highlight the
currently selected text as it speaks. This allows you to easily follow the
text visually while JAWS reads. *This option is selected by default in
Internet Explorer, Chrome, Firefox, Adobe Reader, and Microsoft Mail.*"
