Eric Meyer (and two other people) devised a method of creating heirarchical
menus using Pure CSS but it is not supported by IE but does work in Mozilla
and Opera 7. Go to http://www.meyerweb.com/eric/css/edge/menus/demo.html
with either of these browsers. Because the effect is created by CSS, the
underlying list structure is available. Using an IE/CSS hack to hide CSS
from IE, you can make the full list visible to IE yet allow the pop-up
effect to work with the other two browsers. (Eric hasn't used the IE hack so
only the top level list is visible.) Text browsers such as lynx would see
the whole list.
