Hello everybody, I was curious how much success any screen reader users has
had with flash lately. The new versions of JAWS and Window eyes advertise
how they have made changes to make flash more accessible for screen reader
users. If there is any first hand experience that any users have whether it
may be better or same or worse, it would be nice to have a idea where it
stands as far as accessibility.

Regards.

Sachin,
It is worth pointing out, as an addendum to your note, that this sort of
data may be useful for determining whether people have encountered more or
less accessible Flash, but does not accurately speak to the potential of the
media.

Much like HTML, there are several interdependent issues, including but not
limited to:

1) developer knowledge and attention to access issues
2) Flash player version (more recent versions are better)
3) Version of Flash authoring tool used (some components, such as the combo
box were not accessible as delivered with Flash MX but are with MX 2004)

I'd ask that people responding to this question provide some indication if
the developer says that they paid attention to access issues, and also
provide URIs if possible.

Just an aside.... I wanted to test some Flash on a site where we had marked
it up carefully... Both of the people that I personally know with
screenreaders (both JAWS) couldn't test for me... Neither had Flash
installed. :P

So I suppose until people with assistive tech realized that Flash is
accessible (if it is) they're not installing it.
