I did an accessibility audit on one of the web sites we developed
recently and came across an odd navigation idea.

http://www.northyorks.gov.uk/portal/index.jsp

If you click through the different sections you will see that the
current sub section will always become the uppermost one.
At first I was confused, but then I started to really like the idea,
especially when using keyboard for navigation.

To me it was the first time that a navigation was visually more
confusing than with assistive technology.
What do you think?

side question: why aren't the alt attributes for the section images more
informative than mere a repeat of the section headings? Just a thought.

Cheers,
Glenda

Other question: What does that have to do with the topic? :-)

I noted that in the audit, too, don't you worry. The answer is the same
as with every large CMS driven project: Laziness of the content editors
(no provided alternative text) and auto generation by the CMS. Not very
usefull, and IHMO there is no need for these images to be content anyway.
