Does anyone have a script or PowerPoint presentation they would share
suitable for an accessibility presentation to senior executives of a major
international corporation? Preferably one that secured commitment <grin>.

Hi Brian,

We don't have exactly what you're looking for; however, some of this material may be of help:

* "Developing a Web Accessibility Business Case for Your Organization"
http://www.w3.org/WAI/bcase/Overview
Presents benefits and costs of Web accessibility and includes guidance on incorporating these aspects into a specific organization's business case. Includes separate pages for Social Factors, Technical Factors, Financial Factors, and Legal & Policy Factors.

* "About WCAG 2.0" Presentation
http://www.w3.org/WAI/presentations/WCAG20_about/
Covers the benefits of WCAG 2.0, shortcuts for using WCAG 2.0, how it differs from WCAG 1.0, and other topics. Includes detailed speakers notes (pretty much a script) and presentation "slides", in presentations format (ppt) and HTML.

The W3C Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI) will be posting more presentation materials in the coming weeks...

Anyone else taken on the slings and arrows of pitching a perceived
"another expensive human resource/legal dept boondoggle" that would share
some pointers?

It would really help if you could talk to someone in each department to find out what the concerns are BEFORE you make the presentation.

Sometimes their concerns happen to be things you never thought of, or things that are only relevant to your company. For instance, if your company needed some good PR, you could package your presentation to include your hope to market news stories on your challenge with accessibility.

If you have individuals with disabilities in your workforce (surely you do!), you could get a testimonial from them, or recommendations from them.

A colleague of mine talked to their HR department, and learned that they perceived accessibility messages as harsh judgments. They were very sensitive to criticism.

The legal dept, on the other hand, wanted to have as many meetings as possible, so they can prove good intention in the case of litigation.
