Hi everyone,

Business.gov offers a video player that is claiming to be 508 Compliant but
I am having some trouble with its keyboard accessibility for sighted
keyboard users.

You can access an example at
http://www.business.gov/about/features/508-video-player.html.

I have trouble increasing the volume and am unable to turn captions on by
keyboard alone. This is via using the tab key to navigate to the
corresponding controls and activating them.

It is worth noting that screen reader users have access to hidden links to
control the video so this user group is catered for well.

Their administrator claims to not have the issues I have described. Is
anyone else able to try this out and report back? It is a Flash based player
and keyboard access in Firefox is not accounted for, so use Internet
Explorer.

Thank you!
Sofia

I can see fine, but I can't operate it on my Mac. :-(

I tried using it in Internet explorer (and forcing a specific browser is an accessibility nightmare, that's beside the point), and failed. Sometimes I could control the volume with the arrow keys, but sometimes the arrow keys would spontaneously pop out of the volume control and start moving around the rest of the flash object. And every time I hit "space" over the pause button, it would pause for a fraction of a second and then start up again.

(For reference, I am a sighted voice/keyboard only user. And I do NOT use Internet Explorer.)

I would let them know you are having trouble accessing the video.

Thanks, Nancy. I already did that. They claim to not be able to reproduce
the issue. Hence my request here to confirm or refute my findings.
