As a rule, autoplay is considered bad form for audio/video on websites. If
a site does have autoplay implemented, the responsible thing for site owners
to do is enable users to mute or turn off as one of their first options
regardless of how the user interacts with the site.

I'd be curious to hear this groups feedback about television broadcasters
and more specifically how their video offerings translate to the web with
accessibilty in mind.

Thanks!

I tend to rely on auto start as controls never seem to be accessible.
If it's not youtube, I don't have much of a chance. However, there are
certain areas of the mlb.com website that have auto start and it can
be somewhat annoying. Generally though, if it's not on youtube, I
can't watch it. I've got a subscription to a youtube channel for my
baseball team. The guy posts videos on his blog too but I can't access
them, so I'm so grateful he puts them on youtube. If youtube ever went
to a non auto start site, I'd be totally out of luck.
