I found http://jimthatcher.com/webcourse1.htm#tutorial to be an
excellent resource. He breaks it down into an easy-to-follow format.
Webucator has recently taken his tutorial and made it into an online web
accessibility course:
http://www.webucator.com/ilo/schedule/category/accessibility/

The author, Jim Thatcher, also provides web accessibility training for
design, dev, and QA teams: http://jimthatcher.com/index.htm.

Good luck!

Hi,,

Another place that you might find useful is Think Vitamin - Learn
Accessibility.

Link to the Learn Accessibility Video Course: http://j.mp/accessvideos

The Think Vitamin" Learn Accessibility Video Tutorial is a course that
teaches you how to make websites that are full accessible to everybody,
including those with disabilities. It teaches you Accessibility from the
basics through to advanced levels. It covers the following areas in a
series of lessons: Fundamentals, Websites, and Web Apps.

The course can be divided into two levels, an introduction to
accessibility fundamentals that teaches anyone about accessibility, and
then provides lessons for web developers on how to build websites and
web applications that are accessible.

Part One - Fundamentals and the Screen Reader section in Part Two -
Websites gives a good introduction to accessibility.

The remainder of the eLearning course provides web developers with a
foundation for creating accessible web sites and applications. Part Two
- Websites consists of a project that creates a small website that is
designed to be accessible using only HTML semantic markup. It talks
about basic components: headers, navigation, images, content, buttons,
and tables.

Part Three - Web Applications provides basic information on how to make
web applications accessible, including forms, tables, dynamic elements
and charts / graphs. However, it does not provide enough in-depth
information on specifics needed to create a fully accessible website or
application.

Hi,

You might also want to consider the Web Accessibility Principles video
course that is available through the Lynda Online Training website for a
moderate cost.

Lynda.com is an online training website that has hundreds of online
courses in a wide variety of areas ranging from web design to Microsoft
Office fundamentals. There is a $25 to $35 cost per month for an
individual for taking an unlimited number of training courses.

They have one course that covers Web Accessibility Principles. It is an
excellent in-depth course that explains the concept of accessibility as
it applies to the web, and describes how it affects everyone. It also
covers how to set up accessibility testing, and how to apply
accessibility principles to new and existing sites using
standards-compliant markup and CSS. Exercise files accompany the
tutorials.

The course is intended for web developers and show you learn how to
create accessible layouts, text, navigation elements, images, tables and
forms, as well as how to style them with CSS.

The first part of the course - Getting Started with Web Accessibility
provides a good introduction to accessibility. It talks about various
disabilities, why web accessibility is important, and demonstrates how
someone using a screen reader experiences the web. It also gives an
overview of web standards including Section 508 and WCAG, and why
general principles of accessibility that should be used in the design of
websites.

The remainder of the course provides an in-depth introduction to web
accessibility, including Setting up an Accessibility Testing
Environment, Creating Accessible Page Layout, Working with Text,
Creating Navigation, Working with Images, Working with Tables, Creating
Forms, and finally, Deprecated Accessibility Techniques.

You can get a Certificate of Completion upon finishing the course

Hi,

Yes indeed the information provided by Jim Tobias on his website that
you mention is a good staring place for sure.

Granted That Webucator created an online course based on those
materials. But, the cost of the course is rather expensive to say the
least.

Another place to consider if you want a review of web accessibility in
the context of WCAG 2.0 is the Understanding Web Accessibility course
available thru the Inclusive Design Institute (IDI) and Inclusive Design
Research Centre (IDRC).

Link to the Understanding Web Accessibility Video Course:
http://courses.idrc.ocad.ca/go.php/1/index.php/ib/1//p_course/1
<http://courses.idrc.ocad.ca/go.php/1/index.php/ib/1/p_course/1>;

The course is aimed at Web content authors and Web application
developers, with detailed coverage of the W3C Web Content Accessibility
Guidelines (WCAG 2.0), and how to create Web content that is accessible
to a diverse audience of users.

The organization of this course mirrors the structure of WCAG 2.0. Like
it, the course is divided into four parts, or units. Each unit focuses
on a principle of accessible Web content, with reasoning behind the
principle, a translation of the associated guidelines, a simulation to
experience barriers first hand, and then practice with strategies that
can be used right away.

The four units of the course correspond to the four accessibility
principles in the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG). These
principles describe Web content as:

1.Perceivable

2.Operable

3.Understandable

4.Robust
