Subject: image sprites in IE compatibility view
No previous message | No next message

We are replacing traditional CSS sprites with "image sprites" as proposed by Thierry Koblentz and Steve Faulkner among others, to avoid problems with high contrast display settings, which hide background images. But we are having a problem. When IE8 is in 'compatibility view' the images become invisible. Questions:
- Has anyone encountered this problem?
- How prevalent is IE's 'compatibility view' among users? Is it common enough to worry about?
- Is there a way to fix the problem?

Regards, Michelangelo, Toronto.
