I blogged about screen reader support for disabled and read only form fields
a while back. I didn't go into the way screen readers dealt with them within
the links dialogue, but here's the link in case it's helpful anyway:

Subject: [WebAIM] Disabled links and form buttons

hi Group-

Looking for opinions on how disabled links and form buttons should be
displayed in screen reader links list and forms mode. The visual user will
see the link or form control as "grayed out" but what should the experience
be for the screen reader user? Since the link or form control is not in a
usable state should it not be displayed at all- or should it appear with a
message indicating the state, such as "continue (disabled)" ?

Thanks. Jon
