Hi All,

With more than one screen reader when I view test results from www.tenon.io
<http://www.tenon.io>; , I get part of the page that for me when browsing do
not make sense. I'm wondering if someone might be able to explain what I'm
missing. I didn't go hunting through the page source.

For example, running Tenon on Tenon, I get a series of numbers that indicate
they are alt text for graphics that read like the below. I've tried JAWS,
NVDA and Window-Eyes here. This text appears in the way all of these screen
readers present the content immediate before a table of actual errors.

Kelly,

The quick answer is that you¹re parsing an SVG that¹s showing a pie chart,
but the pie chart is all one color since all 62/62 issues are resolved.
I don¹t know why the multiples of ten or decimals are there, but they are
almost definitely unintentional as they have no visual counterpart.

I imagine the numbers might make more sense if the pie chart was showing
more than one option set but I haven¹t tested that.

Kelly,

Thanks for raising this. Can you email = EMAIL ADDRESS REMOVED = with some
details so I can replicate what you experience and figure out what we
need to do to fix it?

If you can share a copy of the result page, it sounds like this would be a
good example case for the work on making SVG accessible that is happening
on http://github.com/svg-access-w3cg/use-case-examples/ - we have looked
at a couple of graphs so far. We haven't done a pie chart, but I think it
is relatively simple.

In any event I'd be interested in playing around with this, and equally
pleased if you can do the playing and testing, and give us back a worked
example and some notes :)

Another useful piece of work in this area is Doug Scheper's discussion of
improving bar charts, which is related…

the results page is easy.
go to tenon.io, put the tenon.io address in the box on the page, hit enter.
That's the results.

Chaals,

Give Asa Baylus a shout ( = EMAIL ADDRESS REMOVED = )
We're using C3 charts. We are passing data to the chart library as
JSON and using that to feed the data into the chart. It should also be
populating a data table. As Kelly pointed out, we have some work to
do to improve the charts' accessibility which I hope we can address
soon.
