I always wondered what the Title tag in the HEAD element of an HTML document is for?
And: Why repeat the title in a first heading?
Furthermore: HTML pages are the only context where according to my observations one might expect the H1 or top level heading to be the one and only container for the HTML page's identification or overall description. In just about any other document - just think of books or magazines - there would be several or even many top level headings - and they tend to be listed in the table of contents (if one is present). I never saw the title of a document listed in its table of contents.
