As stated, A11Y doesn't apply to every widget out there. That's why we have WCAG.

I tested the calendar that Birkir suggested on computers and mobile devices. As a screen reader user, I was quite impressed. Even iOS 10 that has had issues with some ARIA attributes, performed quite well with it. Why recreate the wheels if you have a solution that works right out of the box?
