There's a version of that under the "Testing principles" in the
understanding document. It probably needs an update, but hopefully
that meets the same purpose.

That certainly helps, but to do that with reasonable coverage of all
the different component types (considering that was just for buttons &
hover states), is a huge undertaking!

The top of the Understanding doc now has plenty of examples [1], and I
think we (the working group) need to focus on making sure the core
explanations and advice are as clear and complete as we can. With that
in place, it is a lot easier for others (like the good folk at Webaim
and the Education & Outreach group) to provide focused tutorial
material that is easier to digest.

Having said that, we obviously will try to improve the understanding
documents, so thank you for pitching in :-)
