The Understanding page for WCAG 1.4.11 contains lots of explanations and examples, but it does not specify a minimum border width. In fact, some of the examples of textboxes have a border width of just one pixel. I am 100% certain that the minimum border width is not specified anywhere in any authoritative source.

In practice, I find that 3 pixels is usually enough, and I get a lot of push-back from designers and other stakeholders if I ask for anything wider. The same applies to focus indicators.

Subject: [WebAIM] Border width for regions on a map/chart

Hi all.

I think this topic has came up in the past. After a few colors, it grows difficult to maintain a good contrast. One way to offset that is to have a strong border between sections, both in color and thickness. If my memory serves me correctly, the conversation broke down after it got to 2, 5, 10, and 10+ pixels.

Personally I am in the 5-10px range, but the individual wants a source.

Thanks
