Karen:

I am using JAWS 2023. JAWS commands changed. I confirmed this information by doing insert-space bar and then pressed the letter j. It puts you in a search box and I typed in Read Next Sentence, not capitalized like I just did. This is the information that came up.

Say Next Sentence. JAWSKey + N

Moves to the next sentence and reads it.

Alt + NumPadPlus

Say Next Paragraph. JAWSKey + control + O

Moves to the next paragraph and reads it.

Say Next Character. JAWSKey + .

Moves to the next character and reads it. If the command to read the current character was pressed twice quickly beforehand, the character is spoken phonetically. If the command to read the current character was pressed three times quickly beforehand, the Unicode value of the character is spoken.

RightArrow

Say Next Line. JAWSKey + O

Moves to the next line and reads it.

DownArrow

Say Next Word. JAWSKey + L

Moves to the next word and reads it. If the command to read the current word was pressed twice quickly beforehand, then the word is spelled instead.

Insert + RightArrowJAWSKey + RightArrowcontrol + RightArrow

Say Prior Sentence. JAWSKey + Y

Moves to the previous sentence and reads it.

Alt + NumPadMinus

Subject: [WebAIM] JAWS keyboard command for reading sentences change?

Morning!

With JAWS 2022 and JAWS 2023, the keyboard commands for moving to and reading prior and next sentence as well as the command for re-reading a sentence seem to be broken...or have they changed?

I've looked online and the documentation indicates that they should work:

Alt + Up or Down Arrow or Alt + Numpad 5

But they don't work in Word, PowerPoint, or PDF content anymore.

I do have the latest version of JAWS 2023.

Ideas?

I did notice this was broken in JAWS 2022 but kept hoping and update would fix it. I used them all the time so it is frustrating that I can't read through anything sentence by sentence anymore.

Cheers, Karen
