It's not very good yet, but I can imagine it improving rapidly. I am less hopeful for other applications of AI within accessibility, largely because of the almost total absence of good training material for it. Also, I am sceptical whether the people with the skills to create an accurate, reliable AI tool would put their effort into accessibility rather than something more potentially lucrative.
AI has been massively over-hyped by a lot of deeply ignorant people. Task-specific AI applications are still not very accurate unless you spend insane amounts of money, and general AI machines are still decades away.
