From what I've read, general populace rarely uses them when observed in user
testing scenearios. Of course, I don't have any links to said reading, so I
suppose that comment doesn't carry much weight.
I think anyone deeply involved with web development finds them quite useful,
but, even though I also implement them on larger sites, I'm really not sure
if it is a primary navigation tool for most folks.
