Hi all,

Can anyone recommend a decent contrast analyser for Firefox that'll
work on the generated DOM?

Thanks as always, Lynn

Lynn -

WAVE (http://wave.webaim.org/) does contrast checking online with the
rendered DOM (as rendered at page load). A near-future update will
allow full DOM manipulation (even after page load) and real-time
evaluation of dynamic elements.

We're also working on an update to the Firefox extension to provide
this functionality, but there's a nasty Firefox bug
(https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=792479, if you'd like to
go vote for it) that is making the updates impossible.

Jared

Exciting news.
Hope you will do tests with screen reader users to ensure that these
tools are accessible.
Lynn, FireEyes's color contrast checking is actually one of the best
ones for screen reader users, once set up. The set up takes a little
bit of work.
You can run a color contrast check specifically, and you will get
information that enables you to pinpoint the spots in the dom where
color contrast issues are identified.

No tool is perfect, and color contrast checking for a blind expert is
always a challenge, it has to be said, but this really gets me most of
the way there.
If you want help testing with, or setting up FireEyes, just contact me off-list.
Thanks
-B

Jared, a tool that checks the manipulated DOM is just what I need.
Very much looking forward to this update.

Birkir, yes please, I'd really appreciate some info on setting up and
using FireEyes, so I'll be hassling you off list.

Thanks a lot guys.
