Subject: Request for feedback on this site.

Can some screenreader users please give me their feedback on how the
following site works, the screenreader used, the country they're from, the
problems encountered, and how the site may or may not violate accessibility
regulations in their country?
The site address: http://www.heatgenius.co.uk/ - navigate to "login" and
then select "login to my hub".
If even that is not possible, the direct login link is
http://www.heatgenius.net/app/release2.8.5/index.html
The username is hgdemo and the password is 123456
See how you go with changing, for example, the conservatory to a background
temperature of 10 degrees, or a "timed" temp of 20 degrees on a Monday.
No, it's not my site or anything to do with me, nor is the company or any
employee, so be as brutal or even as complimentary as you like!
I'll write more once I've got some feedback, but I want people to let me
know how it works, without any preconceptions.

i just gave it a try with nvda and windows 7 in Firefox. i got so lost. i
found the place to click to change temp but once i clicked it i could not
find how to do so. there is a lot of clickable stuff on this page that does
not seem to indicate what is reely going to happen. some how i got in the
change time screen. but i am not sure how. i did that. I would love to
screen share this with you to see what i am missing because it does seem
that i am missing some thing..
once i clicked change temp i was expecting a form controle to type in or
pull down a temp but it just did not seem to be there. this looks like a
fun testing project Lucy

Not a screen reader user, but I noticed all the links you instructed me to
go to had the CSS property, outline set to 0 or none. This made me double
check I was on the correct link. I didn't bother logging in.
I viewed it with Firefox, which I have a custom focus indicator, which
works on most sites. This site over ran it.

I also tested with jaws, most of the place the screen reader is not
announcing anything.
it is getting stuck in between.
in short, really difficult to navigate through this website.

OK thanks for all your feedback on this site. As I thought, it's pretty
much unusable.
We've tried it with Jaws, NVDA, Windows Eyes and Chromevox.
It's a tech company selling expensive products for home heating control,
and it SEEMS that they have made their website totally inaccessible to
screenreader users, by using 100% javascript to render the page, and then
in a way which screen readers can't use.
I spoke to them and they seem in no rush - "it would cost a lot to fix",
apparently. There's vague talk of an API sometime later in the year which
may allow someone to write something more accessible, but I feel it's time
for a little media interest, because it does seem that this company may be
breaking the law if the user of the device cannot use the device without
sighted assistance.
But before I did that though, I just wanted to check that I wasn't missing
something, and that it really is as bad as it seems!
