Hello list mates,
Do you know of any consultants that may fit our need? Our EOC is looking for qualified as-needed PDF remediation services to support the pandemic.
Turn-around requirement can range between same day to 2 days. Source documents vary, including Illustrator.
Documents are 1-3 pages; same content, multiple languages and may require working with document creator. The monthly volume is 30-80 JPGs and 15-30 PDF fact sheets.

Thank you for any references/contacts.
Best,
Suzanne

OAT (Open Access Technology) is our recommendation.
When we can't handle the volume, they're on our short list for remediation work.
Excellent quality, honest, trustworthy.
And, if it's important to you and your organization, they are a US corporation in Nashua, NH.

As a point of reference it's worth knowing about the PDF Association's Solution Agent.

https://www.pdfa.org/solution-agent/

This free service helps connect those who need PDF-specific products and services, including accessibility, with vendors who can help them.

Several of the companies already mentioned are members of the PDF Association, and are thus eligible to respond to inquires from the Solution Agent.

Suzanne,

Interestingly enough, we built our PDF remediation business to reply to as-needed requirements before we got into the larger fixed-price projects that we also now do. The problem to solve was the small task nature of as-needed and the rapid turnaround required. The only way to solve that in my opinion is to automate the task management process. Anything that requires conversations, email negotiations, or unstructured iterations of any kind will increase the overhead so that a small job will be needlessly expensive. And the back-and-forth time is added to the net delivery time.

We wrote a cloud-based task manager called eTaskBoard specifically for as-needed accessibility services. It uses forms and a structured methodology going from a proposed task to authorization to delivery to billing. I suggest a peek at a 10-minute demo at https://www.access2online.com/support/eTBdemoBasic.pps which includes a case study of how we use it every day for PDF remediations where tasks can be as small as $49 and turnaround is measured in hours.

We even have agencies using the as-needed approach to test our capabilities before giving us a large job.

Cheers,
Peter Shikli
