Hi,

Can I expact multiple live regions to be read out on a single action? It
seems to me that NVDA and JAWS do so but VoiceOver not? Am I right? Or
does it depend? On what?

Thanks a lot for your help,
sonja

If I had multiple live regions and upon one user interaction, the multiple
regions were all updated, I'd expect to hear all the updates if they're all
"polite".

If "assertive", then all bets are off. "User agents or assistive
technologies *MAY* choose to clear queued changes when an assertive change
occurs" (https://www.w3.org/TR/wai-aria/#aria-live). Multiple assertive
regions might trounce on each other. It's undefined what might happen.

A few months ago I tested the simultaneous update of multiple aria-live
regions with NVDA on Firefox.

Generally with them all set to polite, NVDA queued them up and announced
them all. When they were all set to assertive, the user only ever heard one
- presumably the last one to actually get updated.

My assumption from that is that NVDA clears any queued announcements when
an assertive change occurs - even announcements triggered from previous
assertive changes.
