Hi all,
I have been looking at Terrill Thompson's tournament brackets. I really appreciate his work. Keeping up with the tournament is far easier thanks to his efforts.
I cannot see the pages, but I am fairly sure they do not try to recreate the classic look of the four regions branching to the center box. That would be quite an undertaking, but I am betting that people much smarter than me have given this some thought.
I have searched the archive and found no discussion of brackets, but perhaps I used the wrong keywords. Does anyone have some rules-of-thumb about the navigation patterns to support if a design were to mimic the classic look?

Assuming you're talking about this:
https://www.terrillthompson.com/ncaa/index.php

It sounds decent. There are always little tweaks that someone will
recommend. I was going to suggest nested lists but he's already sort of
doing that within each round. Each round is *not* nested under the
previous round but instead has its own section with its own heading level
3. That makes it easier to jump to each round, which is nice.

It might not be clear that hearing "star" after a team name means the team
is the winner.
And hearing a number before and after a team name might not initially be
obvious that the first number is the seed and the second number is the
score (if they played).

Right now I hear:
"9, Memphis, star 64"
"8, Boise State, 53"

I would prefer (and this is totally subjective) to hear the team name first
to make it easier to find the team I'm looking for. Then after the team
name it could have the seed number and the literal word "seed" as hidden
text. And if the team has played, also say "winner" or "loser" with their
score, although hearing the points for one team then hearing the points for
the other team is a little awkward. Scores are usually read as two numbers
together. But I find the following a little easier for me:

"Memphis, 9 seed, winner, score 64"
"Boise State, 8 seed, loser, score 53"

Hearing "seed" or "score" every time might become annoying.

These are just minor changes I would make if it were my bracket page.
