Subject: WCAG 2.2 release dates.

Those who are in the know, why is the WCAG 2.2 continually being pushed back and no confirmed release date is available? I just did a quick search and the info I found indicated sometime early 2023 v2.2 will be released?
If this was a software product or a building, it would never get built with these types of delays. Makes myself wonder if v3.0 will ever see the light of day.
