Hello,

I'm reaching out to inquire about the WCAG (Web Content Accessibility
Guidelines) regarding the ability for users to customize their notification
preferences and channels, such as through email or a bell icon in the
header of an application or portal.

I have thoroughly reviewed the WCAG guidelines but have not found specific
references to this particular functionality. Therefore, I would like to
understand if there is a specific rule that indicates how to enable users
to configure notifications and choose their preferred channels of delivery.

If there is no specific rule, can I assume that the ability to customize
notifications is primarily considered a matter of user experience and
common sense in implementation?

I would greatly appreciate any additional information you can provide on
this topic or any specific resources or guidelines that may be helpful in
this situation.

Thank you in advance for your time and support.

Best regards, Francesco Mammetti

There is not a success criteria that will specifically mention this design pattern.

Instead what you will want to do is apply the WCAG success criteria to how you design and implement these patterns. For example, can the user use all the functionality of these interfaces just using a keyboard? If you create custom controls, do they programmatically convey their role, name, and value information? Is the color contrast of text in the interface sufficient so that the user can easily read the text?

For the most part, WCAG provides guidance on how to design and implement design patterns in a way to ensure they are accessible.

I hope that helps.

Thanks!
Tim
